Next week’s school target is; Remember to follow the Playtime Code.
Please take time to talk about this week’s school values with your child.
We respect others, ensuring that every child has the right to learn and every teacher has the right to teach
We are delighted to have been awarded the School Games Mark once again this year. This is in recognition of our high-quality sports provision. Last year, 88% pupils throughout the school competed in competitive matches against other schools, which is an incredible achievement.
Have you seen the new menu for school lunches? There are several new recipes this term, all designed to ensure that children have a healthy and balanced diet throughout the week. Our catering service has to meet set criteria to ensure that all meals are healthy. Lunches must include at least one portion of fruit and one portion of vegetables or salad for each pupil, every school day. Our lunch menus highlight in-season fruit and vegetables to pupils as part of their food education.
Are you in receipt of benefits? You may be eligible to claim free school meals for your child. One claim will last for 6 years, so even if they are in receipt of a free meal in KS1 now, their meal and additional educational funding will be secured for the in primary education. Please contact the office for more details.
Thank you to everyone who attended the PTA AGM this week. The officers of the PTA were elected at this meeting – congratulations to Rachel Greveson (Chair), Danielle Ronan (Vice-Chair), Beth Woodhouse (Secretary) and Hayley O’Brien (Treasurer). We hope you all enjoy another successful year!
Have you volunteered to help at the Bonfire yet? We have a number of names already, and there will be some great teams throughout the event. If you have any time at all that you can offer during the weekend and want to be part of the event, please let the office know.
The first PTA event of the year will be Bingo and Booze which will be held on Friday 14 October at 7:30. Tickets will be on sale through Parent Pay from next week. Timing is 5 -6pm for KS1 and 6-7pm for KS2. Reception parents/carers are welcome to stay with their children.

As part of the event, Lightwater Valley Leisure Park are offering entry for £12 per person for those wearing red, white & blue colours on 15th & 16th October.

North Yorkshire Community Message;
If you are dropping off or picking up your child from school please can you bear in mind where you are parking. There have been numerous complaints from residents who are being blocked in on their driveway and being obstructed by vehicles from leaving their property at school times. PCSO’S and the staff from the local school will be monitoring the situation, obtaining vehicle registrations and follow up enquiries conducted which may lead to prosecutions/issuing of fines for willful obstruction of the highway. Please be aware of and adhere to safe parking and unnecessary obstruction at school drop off and collection times
For our new ‘Monk Fryston’s Got Talent’ board we would like photos of the children showcasing their talent. This could be playing their musical instruments, dancing or any other talent. We will gradually add photos to the board as the year goes on. Please send in photos that are no more than half A4 size. Thank you.
