Friday News 20.5.16

Dear Parents/Carers,

School target for w/c 23rd May 2016; Don’t swing on the bike racks.

Please remember that the school will be closed next Friday, 27th May, as it is a teacher training day. Pupils will break up for half term on Thursday 26th May.

You may have heard in the news about a recent legal case about holiday absence from school. The advice of NYCC is that we must continue to follow DFE regulations from 2014 and therefore remain unable to authorise any absence in term time due to holidays.

The next PTA meeting is on Tuesday 24th May at 7.30pm in school. The main item of business will be the school disco. Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting.

There will be a school disco on Thursday 9th June – further details will be provided next week.

You will have seen from our calendar that Sports Day will be held on Tuesday 21st June. All children will do sporting activities in the morning and the traditional races will take place in the afternoon, to which all parents and friends are welcome to attend.

We have attached a uniform order form, please return these by Friday 10th June, the uniform will be delivered to school before we break up in July.

Please note a permanent change to the Summer Term menu – week 3 – Thursday will have potato wedges and backed beans instead of the mixed salad and Fridays will be peas & carrots instead of the tomato salsa.

Welcome To Yorkshire’s land art competition is still running and our very own land art designed by Y5 pupil, Izzy Megilley, is in the running. Visit http://letour.yorkshire.com/landart to register your vote – and to see all the fabulous land art created for the 2016 Tour de Yorkshire. Voting closes on 29 May.

Also take a look at the footage shot on the day by our own drone at Facebook.com/bertsbarrow. Thanks to Charlotte and Jason for organising the competition, helping create the installation and providing the land for Izzy’s work to be put on show to the world.
